Allow QTY set under products advanced pricing override QTY setup in pricing calculator
The how to video on the Advanced Pricing KB (https://americommerce.
Use Case:
We sell a bunch of items both individually and as a set. We typically give a 5% discount when items are purchased as a set.
The issue is that each product may have different qty levels at which the breakpoint happens. So we can not just set a flat qty in the price calculator and have it work for all products we want to assign the discount to. For example, if we are selling wheels we give a 5% discount if you buy a set of 4 (complete set for a car), but if you are buying the lug nuts the discount is when you buy a set of 20 (complete set for a car). Spark Plugs we discount when you buy a set of 8 (Classic Cougars were all V-8s).
We have some of those setup as product groups, but that has caused us issues with keeping prices up to date. Our system pushes updated prices to individual items as prices increase, but since product group prices are independent of the price of items in a group, we have to flag those to be manually updated every time the cost of those items change. We discovered that if you setup a pricing calc with a discount at a certain breakpoint, then we do not have to worry about updating the price because it is a percentage discount off of the base price of the individual item.
We can not set a precent discount in the product advanced pricing without using pricing calculators. If it worked the way the video indicates, we could do that with one pricing calculator. As it currently works we would have to create a bunch of pricing calculators and configure the price break in each price calculator itself.
So for our purposes, we would like to see price calculators honor the qty set at the product level in advanced pricing if it is set, and default to the qty set in the calculator settings if nothing is set at the product level.
