Override ETA for specific warehouse

We have found the need recently on multiple occasions to alert customers that shipments from certian dropshippers/warehouses are delayed, but there does not seem to be any built in way to do this.  It seems like there should be a way on the warehouse settings to be able to override the default ETA for shipments from that warehouse.  Currently, even though we put a message on products / product statuses for items shipping from a given warehouse, the shipment ETA in the shopping cart/checkout still show the default ETA and there is no way we can modify that for items from a specific warehouse.
