add "order contains product status" to order event rule engine

I do a lot of work with pre-orders, and would like to be able to send a special email out to people letting them know that they have a pre-order item in their order, and what to expect. So having a rule in the Order Events rule engine that triggered when a product with a specific status (in my case, "Pre order") was in the order would be fantastic.
