Looking To Have Default Filter Options Pre-Set for Search Results

Your normal category pages by default allow you to set them up so that only in stock show first or based off of a default attribute filter.  The search results and attribute filtering doesn't allow this.  For example, we have in stock items and pre-order items for different seasons.  It'd be nice to be able to ONLY show in stock items in search results or to filter them by a pre-set option.  Basically, it's just taking the filter options that exist on category pages and make them function in the same way on search results.
