Add ability to hide out of stock items on widgets that display products

It seems like we should have the ability to hide out of stock items for a given widget, for example there is no reason to try to upsell a customer an out of stock item.  We do not want to hide them on the site, just have the option to not have them show up on the product widgets like relate products, featured products, spotlight products, etc if they are not available to purchase.

  I just opened a case about this and they told me is not available. We are having the same problem including DISCONTINUED items to show up.

  This seems like a simple and logical change, to be able to check "show only in stock items" in the widget form

  We are also having the same problem.  We would also like to be able to exclude items that are out of stock or discontinued.
