Customer Edit Details Page

Does anyone know what the point of the customer edit details page is? When you go to this logged in as a customer all you see it this: 

If you type something in the box and hit continue it adds what you typed to the other details on customer myAccount page.

  Hello,

  This is a Customer Level Custom Field.

  You have one setup on your store.  If you go ahead and submit a support ticket or have one created by sending an email to supportrequest@sparkpay.com I can link to you the location that this is on your store. (You're welcome to reference my name)
