Dynamic Default Pricing Based on Location
The items on my site are heavy and I incur huge shipping fees to ship these items to my clients. I am looking for a way to change the default Pricing (Customer Type) based upon the location of the client viewing the site WITHOUT having the client login. I have a dilemma. I have to show LIST pricing on my website for all the people viewing and buying on my store, because I will incur large shipping costs to get my products to them, but for my local clients (around the South Florida area) I can afford to give them deep discounts because I can place these orders on my own trucks for delivery.
I am trying to put my best foot forward when these clients view my site. They see the LIST price and they get "turned off". I have told them to log in to see their preferred prices, but it just doesn't happen. I am hoping to put a snippet for a Geolocation Service in the header of my home page and have the default customer type change if they are located in the state of Florida. AmeriCommerce has told me this change will cost a minimum of $10,000.00 and would take at least quarters to implement, even if I wanted to go forward. Shopify has this capability, but I really don't want to change vendors. If any of you have a solution, I would love to hear it. Thank you, Ira

IMO, This is a relatively easy feature, with huge impact. Since geo-locating is not exact, I would like user selectable location, (we can locate it in a header). The location < - > price rule can use similar rules engine to what we have now. The cost/price driver can be any one or more of: additional shipping, regulatory, market opportunity, excise/duties, etc. so flexibility is key here.We operate in multiple countries, and the "shipping region" work-around,(the only one I know of at this point), is an inadequate solution.?? Perhaps the Marketplace Manager, (albeit overkill), and its variable pricing capabilities could be modified for this purpose?1
