Hotfixes & Small Tweaks - January

January will continue the current usability initiative, especially geared toward starting an initial online store along with some great new strategic developments for version 5.0.34 due out in the coming weeks.  The FTP browser, store wizard, add product wizard has been completed,  and we are wrapping up site content management now.

Many more support articles were written and many more to come.  January also marks a definitive security push to tighten up security for the 2009 year.  Additionally this month will have a new custom layout engine for key front end pages that allow some great alternative layouts and themes to be created.

• HOTFIX 34: Added page level help and popup help under orders and catalog tabs where ever needed.

• FEATURE 34: Added support for merging specific snapin instances globally on a page to PageTemplate  Example: You have a related items snapin (ID: 123) on your product details page, but you don’t want to be forced to put it at the top or bottom of the page. You could now include the merge $$ RELATEDITEMS123$$ in your left column to have that snapin shown there when on the product page.

• FEATURE: 34: Add zero $ order support.This has only been tested and validated on One Page Checkout.  Payment drop down will display only one choice of "No Payment Due" when the order total is zero.  One Page Check-out will properly handle switching between a free shipping method and a non-free shipping method to allow them to pay for premium service.  Order status will be set to the first status in the list.  This is usually Pending Processing.

• HOTFIX (5.0.33): Add logic for populating ShippingProviderServiceName in OrderEdit.
• HOTFIX : Change view style popup windows off the admin to include toolbar.

• FEATURE 34: Added new page(ShoppingCartPrint) in admin and on storefront as well.
• FEATURE 34: Added Global Theme Settings page and made a few other custom layout related usability tweaks.
• FEATURE 34: Tweaked PageTemplateBase’s rendering of the head tags to be compliant with XHTML and strict doctypes when used.

• FEATURE 34: Custom layout framework “Phase 1” checked in. This includes functional UI for all layoutable areas (Product Details, Category, Catalog, Search, Manufacturer, Attribute, Login page, and FeaturedItems) as well as the custom site template/doctype. All default layouts are in HTML files named the same as the page, and sub layout areas are postfixed with the name of the layout area (ex: Category.html and Category_ProductList.html).

  • HOTFIX: Will now check the number of tax rules created for fallback tax rates before sending the Google Checkout initial request.  There is a limit to the size of this request, and a timeout, so with sites with complex tax rates, the request gets cut off while being sent.
