2012.3 Includes This! We even enabled custom layout of the variation area as well. We exposed that variation area to product groups AND all of the featured item widgets like hot sellers, featured, spotlight, etc. We support all of the ajax price changes in each of these areas. The only thing we decided to leave out was swatch support, since most of these areas do not have a swatch context. I'm very eager to see how these will be used in the community, it's been on my personal wishlist for a long time as well!

We're in agreement that this would be a great extension, we hope it gets voted up. There has been only a few people supporting it in the past and it's a pretty large dev.

We recently moved from a cart that had this feature. We've had to settle for sub-optimal display of some products on Americommerce because we can't set variant options for grouped products.

This seems so obvious - and so necessary! We have so many products that we would like to sell as kits and groups, but everything we make comes in at least two colors, so we can't. It is very confusing for our customers to have to order each component of our products individually.

We desperately need this feature. Our old cart (only $10 a month) had it and while AC is superior in many, many ways, I know we've lost a lot of sales opportunities by not having this feature.

This would be very helpful for any site offering products that are offered in different colors, voltages, or can be configured in more than just one way. We would also like the table to enable the customer to select their color and add to cart, all within the same table.

Save time & reduce errors when adding products with variants/options to your catalog - Please consider adding a vote to Global Variants - Enter your variants/options once, and share them with many products. http://vote.americommerce.com/forums/25843-feature-ideas/suggestions/1157703-global-variants-variant-kits-

Hey Ed, question on this statement "The only thing we decided to leave out was swatch support, since most of these areas do not have a swatch context." Let's take this basic example: * Product 1 Image Small Shirt Link + Price * Product 2 Image Medium Shirt Link + Price * Product 3 Image Large Shirt Link + Price * Product 4 Image Extra Large Shirt Link + Price Each shirt is available in blue, red, white, black, purple, and orange. In order to select a color, the customer will have to click the "link" section to go to the invidiual product page. Why not give them that functionality on this page? We had this functionality on our old ASP.NET cart and used it in a number of situations. I believe it is something we are having custom developed but I am curious to know why you didn't think it would be used in many contexts. Example of what we are proposing: * Product 1 Image - Small Shirt - Qty - Color Drop Down * Product 2 Image - Medium Shirt - Qty - Color Drop Down * Product 3 Image - Large Shirt - Qty - Color Drop Down * Product 4 Image Extra Large Shirt - Qty - Color Drop Down With this proposal, customers could order 2 medium white shirts, 5 medium white shirts, and 4 large shirts on one page.

This feature is designed to allow a very similar use case to what you propose, picking the options right from the product group or any featured product widget placed on any page. The swatching statement was really just about having a small 16x16ish pixel image of the color pink/red/blue and having that be exposed on all of those new spots. In our system a swatch just changes the dropdown/selection of the dropdown that is already on the screen. This feature is all we temporarily froze so that we could give the feature to the users faster. < 1% of our customers use swatches but almost all of them use variants/options. Ultimately though, swatching will be supported in all of these spots because we intend to replace the variant options on the product page with the new control built as part of this development in a future iteration of the product. When we do that, we have to support swatches and it will be available in all spots at that time. We also are scoping adding this control to the category page too which will enable it to be used as part of a category layout. Lots of great use cases for this and we're really excited about it. Thanks for your feedback!
