Set Deliver Date for Gift Certificates (26) (PD-16432)
When shopping for a gift, in most cases, you don't buy the gift on the day your going to the the gift to the person.
With this said, the customer needs to be able to purchase a gift card that gets sent to the gift recipient at the customers time of choice. So instead of the customer waiting to purchase on the recipients actual Gift Day, they could purchase now and know that the recipient will receive the E-Gift Card on their Special Day.
Otherwise, the customer may forget or decide to do something else, in the meantime, if they have to purchase on the recipients Special Day. And no one likes to give a gift early as it spoils the fun of their Special Day.
Here's what Americommerce has to say:
This would require a new automated event, gift certificate settings, some store settings and some tracking of the sent status.
$2,500-$3,500, $300 spec fee, 6-10 weeks, tied to release.
Hotfix to latest stabilizing version upon completion - $600
MY REPLY:
Ok, So your throwing 3 different prices at me, what is the actual
total cost of this feature?
Does it cost $5,000 for everything?
I figured it would be simple using the workflow rule engine or something.
AMERICOMMERCE'S REPLY:
This functionality is part possible without custom development. The price would fall between $2,500 and $3,500. There would be a $300 spec fee to determine the final cost and provide a written spec. The $600 fee is to have this built on a version that is already stable verses putting it on the next release and sending it thru the normal testing cycle.
MY REPLY:
"$5,000 and 10 weeks for such a ridiculously simple feature. The abandoned cart emails gets sent at a future time of our choosing after a customer abandons their cart. That instance triggers an email to be sent at a future time. The product review email also gets sent at a future date.
No one in their right mind would pay $5,000 for this feature and wait 10 weeks for it to be completed.
I could build a whole new professional website for that price in half the time. Give me a Break!"
AMERICOMMERCE'S REPLY:
The quote is $2,500 to $3,500 and 6 to 10 weeks tied to the next release. The most it could cost would be $4,100 to deliver on a already stable version. I understand your frustration but the estimate is based on real time requirements on implementing this feature provided by the Development Team.
IF YOUR USING GIFT CARDS, THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST, LET'S GET THIS FEATURE IMPLEMENTED. VOTE, VOTE, VOTE!

I need this, too. No one shops on Christmas Day to have a gift sent to someone on Christmas. Likewise for Birthday presents. Can we PLEASE get this done before the Christmas season this year? Does this still need customer investment to get this done? 0 -
Any chance you guys could have this functionality available in time for the Holiday Season? We have disabled gift certificates waiting for the ability to specify a delivery date...

Any updates on this? This request has now been pending for 10 years....
