Payments: Auto Update to Match Amount on Payments (2)

This is very annoying. I've used Volusion for several years and am switching to AmeriCommerce in the near future. One major problem exists with the Payments on the order screen. If a customer goes to our site and checks out they will enter all of their information in and complete the process without our help. Then when we get the order it is quite often that we make changes to the actual amount that is charged, either to shipping or discounts after the fact. With Volusion any changes to the order prior to actually charging the customer we could make changes and the order and the amount that was due or was going to be charged would be the same. However, with Americommerce if the customer checkout out and the total was $500.00 then I would have to add a payment for the correct amount instead of just being able to approve an updated total. As most store owners probably operate, we only charge our customer after we've reviewed the order.

  Is there a way to avoid having to always add an additional payment. I really think the payment process of collecting funds can be improved. Both Shopify and Volusion are user friendly for the admin and something should improved with this process.

  Have you tried setting your payment gateway to authorize only? Then you can process payments after reviewing the order.

  Were you able to get this resolved? When we take manual orders on the phone the amount to be charged is never auto-updated to the new total, it's very inconvenient and sometimes it can cause errors. The Payment amount before charging/authorizing the card should match the Order Total when the order has been changed

  2 years later... seems that Americommerce stopped even looking at feature requests

  If you sort the Feature Requests section by most votes you'll see a common theme that the higher voted requests are either planned or completed. The more community involvement and upvotes/downvotes the better as it helps guide us on what our customers care the most about.

  Hi Jack, thank you for the quick response! Even though some features don't have votes, some are just common sense features that should be implemented.

  Automatically updating totals and payment amount (to match) when something is modified in an order should be a no-brainer. I understand that Americommerce platform has the "update button" but that can lead to human error mistakes if you forget to do it, but in reality, why would anyone update quantities, item's price, shipping or discounts and NOT want the total to be updated? Why can't it be done automatically?

  The total and the amount to be charged ( in the new payment information) should be updated automatically and match.

  I understand if the code was created years ago where there was a need to click on a button to update totals but now it can be automatically performed by setting event listeners on each of those fields.Actually a very simple implementation, this request was created 6 years ago
