Step 4: HS Codes, Freight Class, and Additional Attributes
HS Codes, also known as Harmonized System Codes, is a numerical method of organizing and classifying traded products. Authorities in international customs are able to access these codes in order to identify duties and understand product statistics. https://www.trade.gov/harmonized-system-hs-codes
When considering shipping your product, selecting the appropriate freight class is essential. Freight class is typically characterized by four specific features - handling, stow-ability, liability and density. (https://www.tranzact.com/resources/freight_class_calculator)
To apply Attributes, navigate to the Catalog tab. Select Products, clicking on Edit and then Shipping. Users can customize the following fields to best fit their product description:
- Shipping Groups

Faulty API Credentials
If your API credentials fail to load, ensure that you have accurately copied over the correct figures. Additionally, confirm that your ShipperHQ account has properly configured active API credentials.
Issue: Rates Not Loading
Occasionally, Shipping Rates may fail to load. If this happens, check the live rates feature and ensure that it is live. Additionally, confirm that pre-configured carriers are activated within your Shipper HQ account.
