I have created custom product statuses, and have managed to figure out how to manually assign them in the product editor. However, when I upload a product file, all products in the upload file are switched to the default product status. I've tried a bunch of different ways of entering the status name in the spreadsheet, but they don't ...

This can be done by:
1/ Selecting the 'catalog' menu in admin and then choosing ''product statuses''
2/ Make sure ''track inventory'' is checked.
3/ Create a product status called ''Out Of Stock'' (if it isn't already there)
4/ Set ''Out Of Stock'' as your default 'out of stock' status.
If a product has 1 unit on hand, and 1 unit is ...

Within the admin area select the 'themes' menu - and the relevant theme you are using.
Then from the left nav menu, under ''Catalog Pages'' select 'product details'
Click on ''Colors, Fonts, Layout'' to expand that menu
Click on ''availability'' to expand that item
Change the ''display'' drop-down box to ''no''
Select 'save' at top ...
