I can't seem to find any information about this, so here it goes:

If I have two stores can I use the same gateway and merchant account for both?

Does it matter if the stores are the same name or not?

For example,

situation a) same name, different TLD: MySuperStore.com & MySuperStore.eu

situation b) different name: MySuperStore.com & MyThriftyShop.com

Is there any difference how these are treated?

You can use the same account for both, however the customer's credit card statement will show the name on the merchant account so if that is "MySuperStore" and they buy from MyThriftyShop.com, they will see "MySuperStore" on their CC bill.
