Catalog differentiation among multiple stores

I am looking for the best way to differentiate our catalog among multiple stores. Until now, we have geared our catalog (item) content to one store. We are now starting our second store with Americommerce because we found the system to be exceptional at targeting niches within a particular category. Americommerce's SEO customization ability is not matched anywhere else that I know of. Over the last year, we have not had one duplicate customer generated by our Americommerce site. That means that all Americommerce generated business was incremental!

If anyone has success using the Merge Codes to differentiate the catalog based on multiple stores, I would greatly appreciate any advice. The search engines are getting smarter every year and can actually find duplicate content within a particular page. I am looking for a way to avoid the "duplication penalty" that happens often with the major search engine.

We would need to differentiate all product page meta tags as well as detail content. Is there a custom merge I can create per store to accomplish this?

Catalog>Product Editor>Group Add Product to Group not working

Hi,

I am trying to set up a Kit composed of four other Products using the Product Group function. I select the + next to the "Add Product to Group [Beta]".

The first product is added successfully. All other attempts to add a second product fail. Any idea why this is failing?

Additonal useful information:

I'm using the "free trial" version

I'm using Safari for my browser

I've tried changing the "Group Type" and have had no success at all.

TIA for any suggestions.

Why is Hot Sellers excluding our most popular seller?

I checked the Knowledgebase and it says for Hot Sellers:

Hot Items based on total sales of an item. There is no override

Yet, instead of displaying our top selling item, it displays #2, #3, #4, and #7 (I show four items).

Is the issue that the module is exclusive? Our #1 selling item is a spotlight item. However, while our #5 item is a spotlight item our #6 is not.

Setting the default checkbox state for mailing list

Problem in Product Details page with variant images

I have two variants for my product. I'm using image association and I have one product image (100.jpg) and the variant images (100_var_color_black.jpg and 100_var_color_white.jpg) defined. In the Product Details page it displays my main image (which is actually the same as one of the variant images (100_var_color_black.jpg), but renamed) when I select White in the Color dropdown, it displays the white image but when I select Zoom, it displays the main image (which is the black image). If I don't define the main image (100.jpg) it displays the "Image Unavailable" graphic. I still get the correct image when I select for the Color dropdown.

The question is: Is there any way for the variant image to be displayed when you click Zoom instead of the main image?

Pricing in Multiple Currencies- third party product?

I've got a couple of storefronts we are working on because we need to process transactions in different currencies. My upload spreadsheets are getting a little messy and beginning to give me errors because I have long and complex pricing variations for some of my products. Is there a third party product that I could integrate with AC that would help me manage pricing across stores and microstores in different currencies with different variants? (I know there are such products for tax and shipping activities. I just haven't seen one for pricing)

New Review Module

I'm experimenting with the new review module that was added to V. 35. Does anyone know if the reviews done in one store will show up for all of them if you have multiple stores running on a single installation? I've been using Brian's review module and I love how the reviews show in all of my stores.

Default Sort Order

Is there a way to make the default sort order of an item be XXXX?

I have spent a lot of time ordering my items, but now when I add new ones, it defaults to 0, pushing them to the top of the list.

I would prefer the default to be something like 500 , so it falls right in the middle of my sort order range without affecting the items designated to be pushed to top.

Edit a Category / Deactivate a Category

We're evaluating AmeriCommerce and very inexperienced with it. We can't find a way to edit a category after it's created or deactivate a category (and reactivate it later). Is it available and I'm just missing it?

I'm looking for a very part-time Americommerce manager to share with another company.

I have been using Americommerce for about 3 months and we've recently gone live with our wholesale site. I have a great many more changes/modifications I want to do to the products catalog going forward. But, with all the other aspects of sales/running our business, it is difficult to make time. I've used Americommerce staff, especially Donna, and have been extremely pleased. But, going forward this is a little expensive for us. So, I thought I might find a current Americommerce user/company who has an internal employee or freelance resource with extra bandwidth. We could committ to 5-10 hours a week for the forseeable future.

Is anyone interested in talking more about this? Thanks

I'm testing AmeriCommerce and really like the solution but I really have a need for a discount which can be based on the total weight in a customer's shopping cart. I sell products that are best discounted in this way to make it fair to all customers. I don't see total weight as an option in the discount type. Is there any way to get this added as a new feature in discounts?

Pricing Items

I would like to see the ability to show individual item pricing but charge for a case. As an example:

A single box may cost $.34 each, but the boxes are sold in bundles of 25. For cost comparison reasons I want to show the individual box cost of $.34 and allow the customer to order them only in bundles of 25, 20, 15 or 10 (based on the type of product). Most of my competitors list their individual item cost, which makes it difficult for my customers to do comparison shopping.

I also receive my pricing the same way. My suppliers provide the pricing based on individual item then sell it by the bundle, case, roll or pound. This makes it very time consuming to update prices as they change.

Reporting on Product Customization and Variant Fields

I'm evaluating AmeriCommerce for a business customer. The customer would like to use a shopping cart to capture payment and registration information for seminar offerings. I've been able to capture the registration information: attendee name and days of attendance. What I'm looking for a solution for is how to "report" this data on an "Attendance Report" containing the selected seminar (product), custom (attendee name) and variant (day of attendance) field. This report would be run each morning of the seminar to collect any recent signups (orders).

Cloned storefront... different product pricing.

Have an Americommerce storefront with 400+ items. All is well with this main store. Created another storefront with the same inventory... this is our "shadow discount" site not "oficially" connected to the main store. Want the shadow store to have across the board lower prices. Read the Americommerce KB article about going into each product and adding multi-store pricing... which is fine if you have just a handful of products.

Is there a way to do a product pricing export of the current inventory, add the shadow store pricing using Excel and then upload all the data so the shadow store uses the new pricing?

Child products not showing with parent product

I am new to this shopping cart software and have a question about child products. The child products are not showing up with the parent product. I have the parent set to "Sell items individually, parent is info only" . I have 5 child products grouped with it for the five sizes. But, when I go to the preview mode, only the parent shows up. I would like there to be a list below the parent that shows the 5 sizes along with their item numbers and prices. I don't have any of the boxes checked on the "advanced pricing matrix" area since I did not want a matrix, just a listing vertically of the 5 child products. Is there something I need to check in one of the theme settings or other areas?

Need to apply a bulk discount on multiple items

I am trying to setup a discount for shirts we are selling. I could be missing the obvious, but when I edit the discount's rule (an item in the cart (muliplied) contains) i enter one item number and it works, i enter 2 items separated by a ; and the rule no longer works. What symbol do i have to use to enter multiple item numbers in this rule??
