If someone could give me some insight into this, it would be greatly appreciated. I work with a number of distributors who have defined sales territories. They are wanting to offer products online, but in order to drop ship from the OEM to the customer, the customer must be within their sales territory. From what I have read, shipping can be restricted using Global Regions. Which leads to my questions. Is is possible to restrict shipping to specific states or zip codes? If so, is it possible for the customer to enter a zip code up front before filling a cart and then not being able to have it shipped? ..and is it possible to define Global Regions for microstores or only the storefront?

Any insight that could be offered would be appreciated.

Quick question. Has Americommerce done any integration for Endicia Postage Software? We use their premium bulk acceptance package and it would be awesome to simply upload the shipping file to my Americommerce admin to post tracking numbers for our orders. If it is not done, are you considering it? For marketing, it would be a huge selling point for any e-com doing above average volume.

I am evaluating at the moment. Our company offers free shipping for all orders over £150, We deliver all goods ourselves so I dont want the option to select any shipping method at all. All I want to see is a £15 charge for shipping if order less then £150 and a £0 shipping charge for orders over that. So If a customer adds an item to cart that is £100 it will calculate a £15 charge but if they add another item of say £100 it will recalculate a zero charge for shipping.

I have managed to work out how to do free shipping but not the £15 charge for orders under £150 and I cannot get rid of the "Estimate your shipping costs:" part when customers view cart.

We have been burned a few times by UPS drop kicking packages and losing them. We are thinking about mandatory insurance on packages over X dollars. This cost has to be passed along to the customer of course.

Part 1) When the info is being sent over to UPS to get the shipping cost quote is their a parameter to indicate we want the package insured? If so, then we could probably just add a setting to the system to do this for orders over X amount.

Part 2) When exporting the shipping data to be imported to UPS we need to also indicate we are insuring those same orders over X amount. We believe this is done by putting the value of the shipment in the "declared amount" column. This would have to happen in the export from americommerce and not in the mapping because we are only asking for it on orders over a certain amount.

Are both these steps a feasible reality?

cheers

Matt

Custom Shipping

We provide delivery to all of our customers. There are numerous features that could be added that would help anyone that drop ships, has multiple warehouses and/or ships internationally:

Ability to set up multiple warehouses per product. Each warehouse would provide shipping to specific states and/or countries. This would save customers money on shipping.

Ability to let customers save their orders until a shipping quote is provided. Once a quote is provided, the customer could complete checkout and pay for their items.

Ability to set global regions per warehouse. Some warehouses products can only be shipped to the US (a flag would be set to notify the customer in case they need the product shipped internationally). Other warehouses products can be shipped worldwide or to specifc countries.

Allow Shipping providers to be set up specific to warehouses. If I have several suppliers, I could set one supplier as UPS Ground and others as FedEx.

I would be interested in what is in the works from Americommerce and what other users are looking for.
