We have seen a real uptrend in fraud recently. Most of it was caught before the items were shipped. However we did lose about $700 on a couple of orders that slipped through the cracks.

The biggest problem is shipping items to a different address than the credit card. Since much of our business is B2B we cannot install an address restriction. We would lose too many sales.

I was wondering if other people are seeing this trend? Also, are there other things you might suggest to increase the security.

We are looking to contiunue using our Intuit Merchant account within AmeriCommerce, however, according to the Intuit CS rep they only support Go Daddy, Homestead, ProStores and Web.com as payment gateways. I do not see any of these payment gateways identified in the KB article (http://www.americommerce.com/kb/afmviewfaq.aspx?topicid=16&faqid=32) identifying payment gateways. Does anyone have experience (and success) in finding and setting up a payment gateway within AmeriCommerce that supports Intuit Merchant Services?

Paypal Website Payment Pro vs other solutions

Hi everybody,

I am about to decide what payment solution to use and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience using Website Payment Pro (with Americommerce or not), and whether there is any reason NOT to go with Paypal's Merchant/Gateway solution?

At this stage (new store) and with my current needs (more sales from Europe than the U.S.) it looks like it would be the most straightforward thing to implement.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Merchant account for multiple stores

I can't seem to find any information about this, so here it goes:

If I have two stores can I use the same gateway and merchant account for both?

Does it matter if the stores are the same name or not?

For example,

situation a) same name, different TLD: MySuperStore.com & MySuperStore.eu

situation b) different name: MySuperStore.com & MyThriftyShop.com

Is there any difference how these are treated?

Limit Payment Methods

We have orders that come in via mail (catalog), where customers sometimes pay by check. I would like to add 'pay by check' as a payment option, but limit it so that only customer service reps can enter a check as a payment method through the admin console, not regular site visitors.

I would also like to do the same thing with other custom payment methods like purcahse orders.

We've tried to pull it out of the display code in the shopping cart, but we don't have that level of control on the custom html.

Anyone have any ideas?

Bad phone numbers

How do you handle bad phone numbers in the order?

either 000-000-0000 of 555 555-1212 etc.

do you hold the order?

send them an email?

Sometimes we need to ask questions of the customer (an incorrect USPS address, unclear request, bounce back on the email address etc.) No phone number makes us nervous. I know they may think they are reducing spam calls, but 1 out of every 50 we have a question. 1 out of every 150 puts in the bad number

PayPal Sandbox test environment and AmeriCommerce

I would like to integrate PayPal Express Checkout with AmeriCommerce. I have setup the API credentials of a real PayPal Business account in AmeriCommerce following the steps listed in this page (http://www.americommerce.com/kb/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=173) and it directs me to the PayPal login page successfully.

What I would like to do now is to test PayPal and AmeriCommerce using PayPal Sandbox which would allow me to test with fictitious bank account/credit card before going live. My question is does PayPal Sandbox testing work with AmeriCommerce? I have tried entering the API credentials provided by PayPal Sandbox but I’m facing with an error message when I click on the Checkout Express button that says,

"There is a problem with this Express Checkout transaction. PayPal has reported back that there has been an error and you will need to select an alternative form of payment. This could be an issue either with your PayPal account or with their system. "

If AmeriCommerce does not support PayPal Sandbox test environment, is there any other way that I could test PayPal Express Checkout without touching any real money? I have tried checking out with an order which amounts to $0.00 but PayPal doesn’t allow that. Please advise. Thank you in advance.

Google Checkout

I am having an issue with Google Checkout not bringing my orders into AC on a consistant basis. I've gone through the whole issue with support and I have everything set up properly.

This just started happening on its own after a couple of months of everything working fine. Two days ago I had two GC orders within a few minutes. One brought came in perfectly, the other brought nothing in.

Has anybody else had this issue and have you been able to solve it?

Selling to Canada

I talked to my Authorize.net representative today about taking credit cards from Canadian customers. He said to do that I would have to turn off the address verification for all orders which I am not willing to do.

I would like to add Canada as one of my regions and only accept PayPal. I'm thinking that since Authorize.net and Google Checkout are not international it would automatically not allow processing unless they are using PayPal. I would just have to post a notice that Canadian customers must use PayPal.

If anybody has some info on this I would highly appreciate it.

Coupon Websites

Is anyone using a coupon generating website, such as RetailMeNot.com? Just curious. These sites require that a coupon code be assigned to your store. When the customer makes a purchase, they enter the coupon code at checkout, and get their discount, free shipping, etc. All feedback appreciated, I am trying to find out how I can generate the coupon code via AC so I can try these websites. It seems all the network news are talking about these, some directing people to places where they can get a deal, etc.

Duplicate Orders

Just wondering if anyone else had this problem??

About 4 weeks ago, I noticed that some customers had placed a duplicate order - a second order, exactly the same, shortly after the first - this usually indicates that they pressed the 'process' button twice in error. However, it started happening on a lot of my orders. It turns out that there was a software glitch.

They installed what they called a 'hot fix' and that seemed to work. Anyone else have this issue? Have you checked your order logs? This is a very easy way to end up with chargebacks on your merchant account if you are not proactive.

How to add text to "Shipping Method" section of a Checkout Page

On my website's checkout page, Section #3 says "3. Shipping Method" and displays a Shipping Method dropdown with each shipping method listed. Below this is a link that says "Refresh Shipping Options and Amounts".

I would like to add some text below this link to communicate some of my shipping policy information as a NOTE. How can I go about doing this? I have tried to add html using the Theme editor in the "Shipping Method" section, but perhaps I am not doing it properly because my text never appears on the checkout page.

Any help is appreciated in advance.

Google Checkout

Anyone using Google Checkout yet? I just started using it, seems like it's working fine as of today. I haven't had any orders come through yet, but I have been testing it with the shopping cart. I used the site merger code and placed it in a custom html snap in underneath the normal Checkout button. The shipping charges and taxes all come through just fine, the only thing that I did notice was that sometimes you must enter the zip code twice.

Does anyone know if Google Checkout allows the customer to use a different Ship To address? This is the part I have not been able to test yet. My concern is the sales tax and whether that will translate correctly to the Ship To Address.

Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

I see nothing in the knowledgebase, aside from initial setup.

International Credit Cards

Every international customer I have is getting their credit cards denied. We suspect this is because Americommerce is not providing all of the fields neccessary to collect the data to process these cards. Is it possible to look into this?

Google Checkout Badges on Base

I have set up Google checkout on my site and Americommerce is uploading my data to Google Base automatically. Does anyone know how to get the checkout badges list with my items on Google Base? The Google instructions are somewhat confusing.

Revolution Card

Anyone familiar with this new credit card, Revolution Card? Merchant fees are only 0.5%. beats up MC, Visa, AMEX, and Discover pretty good. This product was put out by Steve Case, former AOL CEO. Buy.com is accepting it, it looks like it's an API type of payment gateway, but I am not sure. Given the fee per sale, I have a lot of interest in this.

Wire transfers

Paypal Express and shipping calculators

After looking at Tackle Toy Store I have decided to put a shopping cart in my right side column. Can anybody tell me how I could put a functional PayPal Express button in the right column so the customer can checkout without going into the regular shopping cart?

Also, has anybody put a shipping calculator link with the column shopping cart? This too would save the customer from having to go into the standard shopping cart to see shipping costs.
