Grouping Items Together in Same Package for Shipping Calculation

I am trying to get Americommerce to group all items in an order together so that the shipping charge is calculated on the total shipping weight of the order, not as if the items were being shipped separately.

I tried setting the same Shipping Classification Code for my products, but the shipping calculation is still returning a value as if the items were being shipped separately.

     Any help?

Are you pulling in the shipping rates from UPS or Fedex? Do you have a maximum weight per package in your shipping settings under store settings?  I just ran a test on my site and if you don't have any weight in this field it will treat each package separately.

    I hope this helps,

if they are all set to ship from the same warehouse, and you have provided shipping dims & weight, it 'should' group them all together; I dont htink you need a classification code for this, but I dont think it would hurt

I am pulling in the rates from UPS, and I didn't have a maximum weight per package set in my specific store. Once I set the maximum weight, everything calculated correctly.

Thanks a ton for the tip Mike, saved me quite a bit of anxiety!

    Michael,

Glad to help. One word of warning.  If you don't need those classification codes get rid of them.  Otherwise, if you start adding new items that don't have the same classification code you will have the same problem.

    Mike,

Great tip. I removed the unnecessary classification codes and saved myself some headaches down the road.

classification codes are great when you need to mix shipping types (ie UPS & Private Truck) on the same order... thats how we utilize them
